About the Score

Piano/Vocal

Full Score and Parts

Consider the Lilies: An Appalachian Requiem is intended to capture the sounds and feelings of the north Georgia mountains, inspired by the rugged, unaccompanied voices of Appalachian congregations echoing down from the mountains in full, heartfelt, four-part harmony, yet equally informed by the history, tradition, and beauty of the Latin Requiem mass. The composer, Timothy Michael Powell, wrote Consider the Lilies: An Appalachian Requiem in response to the death of his daughter Lily in a tragic car accident, though it transcends its personal origins to provide healing and comfort for others in times of grief.

The second and fourth movements are available separately. All Things Bright and Beautiful and The Lily of the Valley
