About the Score

Kontakia for solo cello was composed in 2014 for Aleksander Tengesdal. The title, Kontakia, comes from the Orthodox tradition--a short hymn or poem. Kontakia was composed as a meditatio on a selection of Orthodox prayers for Holy Week.
